Your local window cleaner in Peaslake
I have been cleaning the windows at this beautiful property in Peaslake for around 14 years now. Set in the Surrey Hills, it is a large period home with a lime-rendered exterior, traditional painted sash windows, leaded glazing and a number of roof lights and Velux windows.
It is one of those properties where window cleaning is about considerably more than simply turning up and cleaning a few panes of glass. There are a lot of windows, several different styles of glazing and some particularly awkward areas to reach.
Having looked after the property for so many years, I know it extremely well now — including which windows need a little more attention and the best way of reaching some of the more unusual ones.

Traditional sash windows
A large proportion of the house is fitted with traditional painted sash windows, many with the smaller Georgian-style panes that suit the character of the property perfectly.
These windows take a little more time to clean than modern glazing because of the number of individual panes, frames and sills involved. Particular care also needs to be taken around the painted timberwork.
For the exterior windows I use my water-fed pole system, allowing the glass, frames and sills to be cleaned thoroughly while working safely from the ground wherever possible.
On a property such as this, keeping the frames clean is just as important as cleaning the glass. Dirt tends to collect around the edges of sash windows and on the horizontal sections of the frames, so I make sure these areas receive plenty of attention as part of the regular clean.
Leaded windows and period detailing
There are also a number of attractive leaded windows around the property.
These are one of the features that give an older house so much character, but they also need to be treated with a little more care than a standard modern window. Rather than being aggressive with the brush, I work carefully over the glass and leadwork while still making sure dirt is properly removed from all of the smaller sections.
The combination of painted sash windows, Georgian panes and leaded glass makes this a particularly satisfying property to clean. Once everything is finished, the difference is very noticeable without changing or interfering with the character of the building.
