Guildford gutter unblocking
If you ask any householder about clean, empty gutters, you will mostly likely see them pause and think, because very often, out of sight is out of mind. The last time they were cleaned quite often cannot be remembered. When problems arise, this is very often because of a lack of structured, periodic gutter clearing and cleaning. To prevent issues, call your local Guildford gutter unblocking professional today!
Gutter cleaning however is an absolutely essential aspect of property maintenance and prevention of serious issues arising from overflowing gutters, such as mold and mildew on interior walls and deterioration of outer walls. Masonry, pointing, or brickwork all suffer, and wood can deteriorate from wet rot.
Full plastic gutters distort and cause the angle to drop causing even more, sometimes permanent problems requiring expensive fixes or runs of guttering completely needing to be replaced.
Unsightly staining and greening from the excess moisture and water that drains down the walls can also cause a real eye sore on an otherwise clean property.
Further down the running outlet, down pipe and underground drains, it can eventually cause serious blockages which can cause costly repairs and even more drastic high power jetting is needed to break out blockages further downstream.

Protect your property by maintaining your gutters
If there are no high trees around a property it does unfortunately not mean gutters stay empty. Autumn and Winter storms can carry leaves and debris for long distances, and even moss that grows liberally on some roofs can completely block gutters and downpipes. These organic materials also make excellent compost for other seeds to germinate, causing plants to shoot up and take root in the gutters, sometimes even breaking joints. It is not unheard of to see foliage measuring in feet, rather than inches growing from gutters.
Quarterly or 6 monthly gutter clearing is generally recommended. Even more frequent for properties which are surrounded by trees or woodland or which suffer with moss problems or pine trees nearby.
Regular maintenance will prevent costly repair bills in the hundreds and sometimes thousands of pounds and is a cost-effective way to stop these problems occurring all together.
Just like window cleaning, most if not all work can be done from the safety of the ground. Ladders are classed as high level-high risk work and should be avoided wherever possible.
Where ladders must be used, all equipment is used in complete compliance with the latest Health and Safety directions on safe ladder use.
By using a high-powered industrial vacuum machine and long carbon fiber vacuum sections, gutters can be sucked out of debris very easily. Rather than using scoops, buckets, and hand tools, a gutter vac leaves your gutters empty of all debris and will keep your gutters flowing clear for longer.
Even stubborn, blocked downpipes can often be cleared by using some specialist tools available.
If a customer requests, the organic debris can be added to the compost heap or be taken away off site for disposing through the council’s garden waste scheme.

Gutter inspections
Seeing as the customer cannot look inside the guttering to inspect the work, how can they trust the gutters are completely empty?
I use a wireless, high-definition camera at the top of the swan neck with a HD display at the bottom of the pole. This is done during cleaning to make sure nothing is missed, and images can be shared easily through WhatsApp or email with the customer to show the finished results.
If necessary or requested, the outer uPVC of not only the guttering, but also the fascia and soffits can effectively be cleaned with my water fed pole system as explained in detail under the window cleaning services section.
